Washington, D.C., Nov. 10, 2008 – The Examiner (www.examiner.com/dc) is hailing the Voice of America's (VOA) Studio Tour, a free guided, audio-visual tour that introduces the public to U.S. international broadcasting, as an "undiscovered gem" in Washington, D.C.
"You’ll have the opportunity to watch live radio and televised broadcasts to countries around the globe. Fascinating," wrote Risa Sanders.
"You’ll go behind the scenes and have a chance to observe the technical equipment as well as the broadcasters. An added plus is the chance to see the room where the President and other heads of state and dignitaries are filmed when they are interviewed," the article said.
VOA's Studio Tours are available Monday through Friday, except Federal holidays, at 12:00 noon and 3:00 p.m. The tour times coincide with live television and radio broadcasts, which are centerpieces of each experience.
Along with the standard tour, VOA also offers special recorded "kids' tours" for younger children (ages 7 and up), as well as versions in Spanish and Mandarin Chinese. Tours are wheelchair-accessible; requests for wheelchair access and different versions of the tour should be made when reservations are made.
Reservations for the VOA Studio Tour can be made by online, by visiting VOATour.com, or by calling the tour line, (202) 203-4990. Arrangements for group tours can be made by calling the tour line.
Examiner.com/dc is a local news site. The review of the Studio Tour appeared under the title "Things to do with teens in DC," and focused on the upcoming holiday season.
