Barbara Brady was named Chief of Staff in January 2010, after serving as Acting Chief of Staff from January 2008. Prior to that, she served as Senior Advisor to the Deputy Director of the International Broadcasting Bureau since June 2007. She came from the Office of Engineering where she was Program Coordinator, acting as liaison with VOA and other broadcasters, and later became Director of the Spectrum Management Division. In Engineering, she oversaw the scheduling and monitoring of all BBG medium wave and shortwave transmissions and was responsible for customer support with VOA and other BBG broadcasters.
Barbara began her federal career in 1990 as a Presidential Management Intern with the former-USIA's Educational and Cultural Exchange Bureau. Since joining broadcasting in 1992, Barbara has served in many capacities including Latin American Marketing Officer, VOA Special Assistant to Director of Programs and Acting Chief of Staff, and as a Branch Chief in the Chief Financial Officer's office. She has fifteen years of experience within the organization handling technical, programmatic and resource management responsibilities.
She holds an undergraduate degree in International Relations and a Master's Degree in Public Administration and Public Policy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
