As a public relations intern at VOA, no day is ever the same! I am lucky enough to be able to work with an incredible team of people who work hard every day to ensure transparency and reliable information in VOA reporting, making sure that our reporters are spreading accurate and impactful information to audiences around the world. I am learning the importance of our role to report on events that shape the narrative of global events and promote understanding across diverse cultures and perspectives. It is a collaborative environment where creativity and dedication to worldwide access of truthful news meet to make a meaningful difference in the world of media and communications.

I was lucky enough to have found out about Voice of America years ago through a family friend. Ever since then, I have been inspired by VOA’s mission and dedication to a free press. It has been an honor to be able to work here and immerse myself in the fast-paced world of communications.

I spent time giving tours and worked on updating information with the Public Relations department, learning everything I can about VOA to not only educate myself but also the multitude of visitors who come to see the studios from all over the world. I’ve also had the pleasure of working with the French Africa department on their work behind the scenes for various radio programs and shows.

Future Plans: After I graduate from James Madison University, I hope to continue my education by attending graduate school and pursuing a career in political or internal public relations.

About Grace Ann: I am a rising third-year student at James Madison University, studying Communications, Public Relations, and French on the pre-law track. I am originally from Yosemite, California.
