VOA will air live television coverage of Wednesday’s ceremony awarding the Dalai Lama the Congressional Gold Medal, the U.S. Congress’s top honor. The ceremony is scheduled for 1700-1800 UTC (1:00-2:00 p.m. EDT) at the Capitol Rotunda. Coverage, on Asiasat 370, is expected to extend until 1730 UTC. President Bush will attend the ceremony, the first time a sitting U.S. president has appeared in public with the Dalai Lama.
The ceremony will also be streamed live on our website, www.VOANews.com/tibetan. Televised repeats are scheduled for 10/17/07 2300-0045 UTC Wednesday, 17 October, and 0900-1045 UTC on Thursday, 18 October, on Asiasat 370.
