VOA Georgian Lands Interview with President of Georgia following U.S. Vice President Mike Pence’s First Visit to the Country

Following U.S. Vice President Mike Pence’s first visit to the country of Georgia, Voice of America reporter Nana Sajaia sat down with Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili in Tbilisi to discuss the recent trip and its impact. Additional topics included the country's Euro-Atlantic aspirations and ongoing constitutional amendments. “V.P. Pence mentioned that the future of Georgia will be in NATO, and the U.S. is backing up the 2008 NATO summit decision on future prospects of Georgia,” added President Margvelashvili. This interview appeared on a number of programs throughout the VOA Eurasia division and was broadcast on national networks in Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia, Balkans, and to Russian-speaking audiences via Russian-language program, Current Time.

VOA’s six-person Georgian Service dates back to 1951 and employs an interactive mix of radio, television and Internet programming to inform, engage and connect with its audience.
