The Voice of America expresses its deepest condolences to the family and colleagues of our sister network RFE/RL reporter Vira Hyrych, who died in Kyiv after a Russian missile strike to her apartment building in the evening of April 28. Her death was announced early this morning.
“This episode is another reminder that innocent lives remain in harm’s way each and every day in Ukraine, whether they are covering the news on the ground or are at home,” said Acting VOA Director Yolanda Lόpez. “Our hearts go out to our colleagues at RFE/RL and the family of journalist Vira Hyrych. This is another untimely and tragic death caused by the senseless war in Ukraine.”
