Director Nadia Majid - East Asia & Pacific

Nadia Madjid is the director of the East Asia and Pacific division which is comprised of ten language services: Burmese, Cantonese, Indonesian, Khmer, Korean, Lao, Mandarin, Thai, Tibetan, and Vietnamese. Prior to her current position, Madjid served as the chief, VOA Indonesian service for almost three years. Madjid piloted the service’s TV programming and produced one of the agency’s longest-running shows, Dunia Kita. She co-authored a book on democracy in Indonesia and a series of children’s books. Before joining VOA, Madjid taught at the University of Indonesia. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Indonesia and graduated in 2000 from the University of Chicago with a Master of Arts in Humanities, specializing in cinema and media studies.
