Programs and Features

Satellite TV

VOA Burmese broadcasts a 30-minute live news program on weekdays and TV Magazine shows on Saturdays and Sundays. The programs air on VOA’s Asia satellite and are rebroadcast by TV affiliates Skynet, DVB (Democratic Voice of Burma) and Sangklburi Cable. Science and Tech segments air on Myawaddy TV. VOA on Mizzima 15-minute program airs on Mizzima digital TV free to air channel on weekdays. Asia Business Weekly TV program airs on state-owned Myanmar Radio and Television (MRTV).

Radio

VOA Burmese broadcasts 2 hours per day on shortwave, medium wave and directly to affiliate stations. Local FM stations, including Shwe FM, City FM and Cherry FM, air the service’s English teaching, Youth and Science & Technology segments. VOA Burmese shows are streamed on its website, SoundCloud, Audio Now or ITunes. The shows include original reporting from Myanmar, Southeast Asia and the U.S., as well as analysis and informational reports on civil society. Regular features include: Women’s Corner, Burma in the News, Burma Focus, Burma Democracy Forum, News from Ethnic Frontiers, U.S. Political Roundtable, Health, Science & Technology, Economics, American Idioms, and Bloggers.

English Learning

VOA Burmese’s English language learning radio programs air on MRTV and Myanmar’s largest FM network: Shwe FM. English Teaching TV shows broadcast on Myawaddy TV. They are also published by the top selling Burmese newspaper, Seven-Day News.
